At MENTOR Minnesota, we believe all youth have agency and power at home, in school, in the community, and in the workplace. MENTOR Minnesota fuels the quality and quantity of equitable and inclusive developmental relationships for Minnesota's young people by building and elevating the capacity of programs, systems, and policies.
Each year, we work with roughly 1,000 mentoring professionals across 200 mentoring programs in the state of Minnesota to provide the technical assistance, training, and connections necessary to allow youth development programs to flourish.

Working at MMN:
MMN is comprised of a full-time staff of 3 but regularly works with 5 specialized consultants and a network of hundreds of colleagues through the MENTOR National network. How will the Training Director impact MENTOR Minnesota?
MENTOR Minnesota has big projects in the works: building out cohorts around racial equity, workforce development, and supporting mental health just to name a few. We want someone to help us expand our reach - and the reach of mentoring- across Minnesota. That means working with businesses and organizations eager to apply best practices and yet might not be traditional youth mentoring programs. In this role, you’ll cultivate those new connections and support their learning needs through exploration, curriculum development, and training delivery.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Developing training partner portfolio for MMN

  • Helping write and edit curriculum

  • Co-planning training calendar 

  • Client relationship management

  • Delivering training! You like people and you like critically engaging with them. You also like identifying client needs and revising/changing the training in ways that supports the client and maintains training fidelity

  • Following up (contracts, tech support, more resources)

  • Reporting efforts, successes, needs, challenges

Useful experience:

  • Business or education degree, or substantial experience in either sector

  • Knowledge and experience engaging with corporate systems

  • Sales and client management

  • Training and presenting

  • Communicating across/within multiple cultures, beliefs, and generations

Compensation and benefits:

  • Salary: $60,000 paid bi-monthly

  • PTO: 11 paid holidays (‘bank holidays’), office closed for two weeks at end of December, 20 vacation days

  • Retirement plan eligibility after 6 months of employment

  • Full health benefits or stipend

About your working experience:

  • Workday: flexible hours and working location (we work remote 90% of the time)

  • Half-day Fridays: Working no later than 12pm every Friday

  • Location preference: MENTOR Minnesota currently works remotely but has an office in St. Anthony Main available when desired. Because of the nature of this position we are seeking someone open to connecting with partners in person (when safe) for occasional convenings. Twin Cities or metro preferred.

Are you well-versed in the art of creating a logic model? Could you write the book on how to screen mentors? Do you have a lot of experience working with boys and young men of color or youth from military families or LGBTQ+ youth? If so, we’d like to have coffee with you. MENTOR Minnesota is looking for consultants or contractors to help us deliver training and/or technical assistance to programs in our network.

Some key tasks might include:
• Support technical assistance projects as assigned
• Serve on a team of trainers for MENTOR MN’s key programming areas/initiatives
• Develop new training, supplementary materials, and/or resources as needed
