Fashion Shows to Health Fairs: Creative Events from Mentoring Programs

April 12, 2011

I am always impressed with the creative variety of events that mentoring programs hold.  Here are three upcoming events we’ve heard about from programs we work with – read on for inspiration, and maybe even something to put on your calendar!

Kids ‘n Kinship – Fashionista’s Favorites Fashion Show

Chicks for a Cause is hosting the First Annual Fashionista Favorites to benefit Kids ‘n Kinship, and this event has it all: a fashion show (including Kids ‘n Kinship mentors and board members as models), local boutiques, jewelry, beauty products, delicious appetizers, a cash bar, and inspiring guest speakers. There will also be a drop-off for gently used purses, handbags, and wallets to donate to Clutch For Cause, an organization working with single parents.

Date: Thursday, April 14
Time: 5:00pm – 9:00pm
Location: GrandStay’s La Grand Conference Center, 7083 153rd Street West, Apple Valley, MN 55124

Northwest Youth & Family Services – Healthy STEP Community Health & Wellness Fair

Participate in mini yoga sessions, attend fitness demonstrations, receive a healthy recipe box, and collect information about health and wellness options in your community. A kids’ station will also offer games, puzzles and health-related activities for youth of all ages. Door prize drawings will be held throughout the event, and donations to the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf will be collected.
