MINNEAPOLIS, May 20, 2009 – Qwest (NYSE: Q) today announced a $10,000 program to benefit the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota (MPM) through an RBI challenge with Joe Mauer, all-star catcher for the Minnesota Twins.

“I’m proud to be back at the plate supporting Qwest and Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota,” said Mauer. “Every child should have the support of a caring adult mentor.”

For every Mauer RBI during the regular season, Qwest has pledged to donate $200 – up to $10,000 – to the MPM. The donation will help MPM support and increase quality mentoring in Minnesota.

“Qwest is committed to supporting K-12 education initiatives in our community and we are proud of the impact we are making for youth mentoring with the help of Joe Mauer,” said John Stanoch, Qwest’s president for Minnesota.

“Qwest and Joe Mauer are truly team players and fully understand the need for every child to have an adult mentor,” said Joellen Gonder-Spacek, executive director of the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota. “As a recipient of this challenge for the past three years, we thank and acknowledge Qwest for their commitment to help all young people become ‘all-stars’ by reaching their full potential.”

This is Mauer’s third season serving as spokesperson for Qwest, showcasing the company’s communications and entertainment services and community efforts in Minnesota.
